Abel Takele
Abel is a computer science graduate whose true passion lies in still and motion pictures. He loved photography since childhood, and his love for the art form gave him the courage to teach himself how to take good photos and video. He started out by borrowing equipment from his friends and honed his skills through many years of practice. Abel is now employed as an amateur photographer/videographer for a local media company, and also does some independent work as a freelancer.
Workers in Motion
In the series “Workers in Motion,” Abel explores the hustle and bustle of East Africa’s largest metropolis – Addis Ababa. His desire to tell the stories of the city’s working population through his lens takes him on a photographic journey where he meets and photographs street vendors. Through his photography, Abel captures his fascination with the strong sense of devotion the vendors have for their trade, and is left inspired by their commitment and drive in using the street to make ends meet.
