Mekbib Tadesse
Born and raised in Addis Ababa, Mekbib Tadesse is a business graduate with passion for visual arts. He has been pursing Photography for over 6 years as a commercial and documentary photographer; most of his personal works revolves around a creative reflection on socio-cultural events. He has exhibited his work around the world in various occasions such as Photoville in New York, Bamako Biennial in Mail to mention a few.
In this portrait collection, Mekbib goes on a sentimental journey down memory lane as he re-lives the final moments of his grandmother. Mekbib’s work is highly influenced by the floras which have strongly shaped the loving, caring and soothing memory of his late grandmother in his mind. His collection explores his memories as each relationship he had is anchored to the fading memories of the floras in his past. As memories are kept in the back of our minds, they seem to be anchored in the physical space through sounds, scents, touch or a flower, triggering feelings and emotions we once felt. Mekbib uses his collection to immortalize those fleeting memories.
